Clinical case report: discitis osteomyelitis complicated by inferior vena cava venous thrombosis and septic pulmonary emboli
Viridans group streptococcus is an infrequent cause of osteomyelitis that is found in association with infective endocarditis. Only a few studies report viridans osteomyelitis in the absence of endocarditis. Vertebral pyogenic osteomyelitis can sometimes be complicated by psoas or paraspinal abscesses. These intra-abdominal and/or pelvic collections can very rarely result in venous thrombosis. ...
متن کاملCentral venous catheter-related superior vena cava syndrome following renal transplantation -A case report-
A 55-year-old man with end-stage renal disease had severe left ventricular dysfunction and a history of deep vein thrombosis. He underwent renal transplantation, during which a central venous catheter was inserted into the right jugular vein. The central venous pressure (CVP) exceeded 20 mmHg throughout the operation but there was no other adverse event. After surgery, although the left ventric...
متن کاملVena cava inferior thrombosis detected by venous hum: a case report
We describe a patient in which a venous hum, heard during abdominal auscultation, lead to the diagnosis of a vena cava inferior thrombosis.
متن کاملSuperior vena cava obstruction caused by radiation induced venous fibrosis.
Superior vena cava syndrome is most often caused by lung carcinoma. Two cases are described in whom venous obstruction in the superior mediastinum was caused by local vascular fibrosis due to radiotherapy five and seven years earlier. The development of radiation injury to greater vessels is discussed, together with the possibilities for treatment of superior vena cava syndrome.
متن کاملSuperior Vena Cava Thrombosis
Superior vena cava syndrome (SVCS) is characterized by gradual, insidious compression or obstruction of the superior vena cava (SVC). The most common etiology of SVCS is related to malignancy such as bronchogenic CA and lymphoma. Other cases have a variety of causes such as chronic infections and chronic inflammations that involve the mediastinum. Spontaneous SVC thrombosis is also known to occ...
